I bought the Fallout 3 GOTY on Steam during the last winter sale and installed it recently to pass the time until FO4 is released. Needless to say I planned on installing many mods to enhance the experience. What I didn't think of was the baffling disadvantages that come with the German cut-version.
Fallout doesn't start until you install Games for Windows Live. Yes, GWL, the trainwreck that was Microsoft's attempt to shove a social platform down players' throats which they never asked for. I'm on Steam and GWL is right next to malware for me, but I have to install that shit anyways.
After installing the GWL crap I notice that the game menu is in German. While I perfectly understand it I really, really do prefer the original English audio. No biggie, I just change the language in Steam. Nope! For whatever reason the German Cut-Version only comes with the German audio and there is no official way to get the English audio! I had to google that shit and download files + an additional program to work myself around to get the original language!
So, after finally having the game setup and starting I want to start modding. First, the really basic stuff, including FOSE... - you guessed it: the German version seems to have big problems with FOSE. For me at least, it doesn't recognize the game version and won't start.

So, here I am now and I'm pissed. I don't mind a less violent Fallout version, but all the crap bundled with it just drives me nuts.
